BJY Preform Bottle Gripper

Two gripper clips can leave the same machine, from the same setup, and behave differently on the same line. What separates them is rarely the cutting. It is what happened afterwards, in the two operations that are easiest to shorten when a workshop is busy: finishing the edges and checking the parts before they are packed.
Two gripper clips can leave the same machine, from the same setup, and behave differently on the same line. What separates them is rarely the cutting. It is what happened afterwards, in the two operations that are easiest to shorten when a workshop is busy: finishing the edges and checking the parts before they are packed.
Take the burr first. It is small enough to pass unnoticed under workshop light, and it is large enough to print on a neck. The mark it leaves is not seen on the preform; it is found later, once the bottle has been blown, which means the defect is counted far from its cause. Since this clip touches a surface that becomes a drink bottle, we treat burr removal and surface consistency as production requirements written into the job, not as a cosmetic step added at the end.
Inspection is the second operation, and it only works when there is something concrete to inspect against. Feeling a jaw face with a thumb tells a machinist very little. So we measure the features that decide behaviour — the jaw face relative to the seating reference, the opening, the mounting features — and we do it before packing rather than after a complaint. It would be faster to trust the setup; measurement is what turns trust into evidence, which is what a customer is actually buying when the part is not a catalogue item.
Correction belongs in the workshop. If a piece does not match the reference, it is reworked here, where the machine, the measurement equipment and the person who made the part are in the same room. Correcting it at the customer's plant is the same work at a much higher price.
One further discipline deserves mention: when a sample is worn beyond recognition or a dimension is genuinely ambiguous, we say so and ask. Guessing is the most expensive habit in this trade.
